Trident is the industry’s most popular fully automatic defluxing and cleanliness testing system. Winner of eight prestigious industry awards, including 2008’s and 2009’s “Best Cleaning Product” and “Best Environmentally Safe Product”, Trident represents the highest level of fully automatic post-reflow contamination removal available in the electronic assembly industry. Our expert team of welders, fabricators, plumbers, and electricians produce Tridents at our state-of-the-art Southern California manufacturing facility.

Trident was specifically designed and manufactured to remove post-reflow flux and other contamination from circuit assemblies. All materials including pumps, heaters, nozzles, and control systems were designed or selected for the express purpose of removing flux residues and other contamination from post-reflow circuit assemblies. Trident is designed to effectively remove contamination from all types of circuit assemblies including those featuring densely populated, low standoff surface mount components. Even difficult high temperature lead-free alloys prove no problem for Trident

Trident is equipped with a unique asymmetrical fan-jet spray system. Trident’s exclusive twenty fan-jet stainless steel nozzles and powerful stainless steel spray pump actually reduce the fluid’s droplet size, allowing superior under-component penetration. Twin counter-rotating nozzle-based spray bars featuring twenty precision-cut stainless steel fan-jet nozzles project specially diffused wash solution and rinse water onto an exclusive oscillating board rack, reducing any shadowing potential.

Trident is capable of removing all flux residues including Water Soluble, Rosin, and No-Clean fluxes from surface-mount and through-hole assemblies. Trident is compatible with all modern alloys including lead-free. Trident was specifically designed to remove all categories of contamination from circuit assemblies including residues created during board and component fabrication, as well as all assembly-related residues. Trident is designed to provide fully automated wash, rinse, cleanliness test, and dry functions as well as complete SPC data recording.
All Trident models are equipped with a built-in extraction-based cleanliness tester, allowing the operator to predetermine the desired cleanliness and ensuring that the assemblies meet the cleanliness requirements. Batch after batch, month after month, year after year, Trident users can expect consistent cleanliness levels.
Trident is controlled by a Windows PC computer equipped with the industry’s largest touchscreen interface (15” / 381mm). Process data, including estimated completion time, real-time cleanliness values, and operating temperatures are displayed clearly on the display. Multiple password protection prevents unauthorized program changes. Programmable maintenance reminders, remote viewing, unlimited recipes, and multi-lingual displays are only a few of the powerful features of Trident’s control system. Unique keyed maintenance switches prevent unauthorized access to critical maintenance functions while liquid level gauges clearly display the availability of Trident’s multiple solution storage tanks.

Trident’s operational costs are exceptionally low due in part to its segregation of wash and rinse solutions. Rather than using a single pump for cleaning and draining, Trident is equipped with up to four individual pumps which segregate spray functions from drain and fluid transferring functions, lowering a user’s chemical costs. Most Tridents are also equipped with a built-in wash solution reuse system which reduces chemical costs as much as ninety five percent compared to traditional fill-and-drain systems. Trident also provides one of the fast cycles times in the industry, allowing more assemblies to be cleaned, tested, and dried per hour than any other batch-format defluxing system.

Trident features the industry’s most comprehensive statistical process control (SPC) system. Alpha/Numeric recipe names, process times and temperatures, set and actual cleanliness levels, and other valuable data are stored automatically. SPC data may be viewed on-screen, exported via USB, or via network protocols.

Complete assembly drying is an integral part of the cleaning process and Trident’s drying system is the most powerful of any fully automatic defluxing system. Equipped with a powerful 1,500 CFM blower, Trident utilizes both filtered convection and radiant heating systems to remove moisture from the surface of an assembly and from between layers. In many cases, the drying is so effective, post-clean bake-out processes are eliminated as assemblies can emerge from Trident weighing less than before they were cleaned.

Trident was designed with chemical flexibility in mind. Trident features stainless steel plumbing systems, pumps, process chamber, and blower ducts for dependable corrosion resistant operation. Trident’s sealing materials consist of EPR, Teflon, and EPDM, the materials of choice for maximum chemical compatibility. A user may chose suitable defluxing chemicals from Aqueous Technologies, Kyzen, Zestron, Petroferm, Alpha Metals, and others. Most Trident models are equipped with built-in chemical dosing and mixing systems, eliminating the need for chemical handling. Simply program the desired chemical percentage and turn a key. Trident will automatically dose and mix the chemistry without the need for manual mixing.

Trident is available in a variety of discharge configurations including low and zero discharge. Most models are equipped with closed-loop wash solution recirculation systems which allow the reuse of wash solution, reducing chemical costs while eliminating wash solution discharge. Zero-discharge configurations are available via ion-exchange resin or evaporative technologies.
Trident is uniquely available in various throughput configurations. From the compact single-chamber models to the popular High-Yield series (Duo, Trio, and Quad), there’s a Trident model to fit every throughput requirement. Trident High-Yield models provide throughput capabilities in excess of most inline defluxing systems but operate on just a fraction of the energy, water, and chemicals. Factor in a lower price, size, and noise level as well as its on-board cleanliness testing capabilities (not available on any inline model) and you will see why Trident High-Yield is the industry’s choice for high-volume defluxing.
